Parks, trails and open spaces leave an enduring legacy for those who create them, and an on-going appreciation for those who use them. The Landscape Architecture Department at PEIL is proud to have been involved with comprehensive design services for parks and trail systems throughout the Kitchener-Waterloo Region, Hamilton and the Greater Toronto Area.

PEIL promotes innovative designs of parks, trails and open spaces that respond to the social and natural histories of the site. We attempt to explore the potential of each space as a new landscape - one capable of sustaining new ecologies and an evolving array of public uses and events. Our focus when designing open space is to provide structure to a site while remaining open to change and growth over time.

Parks, trails and open spaces are potentially the greatest assets within our communities. Socially, these areas connect people to place. They become refuges where people play, relax and gather with family and friends. Ecologically, these spaces become important environmental reserves in increasingly urbanized areas.
