ENVIRONMENTAL REMEDIATIONPlanting plans are readily prepared to include native vegetation to stabilize slopes, provide diversity and to provide habitat. PEIL’s landscape staff is well versed in the selection of woody plants, herbaceous perennials and emergent wetland plants for appropriate locations within stormwater management (SWM) facilities or along realigned or remediated channels. Sensitive design balances the need for naturalized corridors of native trees, shrubs, and perennials within larger watersheds and/or trail systems. The Landscape Architecture Department at PEIL works closely with the Water Resources Department to prepare designs for SWM facilities, realigned channels, and remediated channels throughout Southern Ontario. Similarly, grading disruptions adjacent to environmentally sensitive areas can be addressed with the site specific selection of native woody plants, seed mixes and bio-remediation techniques.
