ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNINGPEIL has experience in addressing environmental issues both at macro and micro scales. This includes watershed and subwatershed plans as well as site-specific environmental impact studies. Watershed and subwatershed plans form the framework necessary for the effective management of water resources and the related environment and are closely linked to land use planning at a regional level. Environmental impact studies utilize the findings of these broader studies to further address site-specific issues. PEIL coordinates these studies using multi-disciplinary experts in terrestrial resources, wildlife resources, aquatic resources, fluvial geomorphology, hydrogeology, geomorphology and hydrology both from within and outside the organization. Regardless of the scale of a study, an ecosystem approach is utilized to allow the ecological conditions to determine the nature and extent of land use planning and development applications. A firm knowledge of Provincial Environmental Policies as well as Conservation Authority Policies and Regulations assist in making sure significant Natural Heritage features are protected and Natural Hazards are managed appropriately.
