ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENTS

PEIL has extensive experience with the Environmental Assessment Act process. Our staff have undertaken numerous Environmental Assessment (EA) projects including servicing and road studies. In the EA process, the real "client" is the public. Effective public involvement requires well planned Public Information Meetings where information is exchanged. Our engineers, planners, environmental specialists, landscape architects and graphic designers create innovative solutions which are effectively and clearly communicated to the stakeholders.

Environmental Assessment is a decision-making process used to promote good environmental planning by assessing the potential effects of activities on the environment. The Federal and Provincial Environment Assessment Acts provide for the protection, conservation and wise management of the environment. They ensure that environmental problems and opportunities are considered before development or building takes place. In addition to addressing natural environmental issues, social and economic factors are included in the analysis to achieve the best possible solutions through a careful cost-benefit analysis.

At PEIL, we see public involvement as a key component of the process. Well planned, Public Information Meetings ensure effective public involvement where information is exchanged in an open and participatory manner. In essence, the goal is to integrate environmental considerations and public concerns into the decision-making matrix.

With diverse technical expertise and successful completion of many projects, we are well equipped to undertake a wide range of Environmental Assessments. Our company is committed to the EA process, ensuring that public concerns are integrated with practical techniques to achieve well balanced development.
