Although usually on a much smaller scale than subdivisions, site plans offer their own complexities. In this age of environmental consciousness, stormwater management is always a consideration. This may take the form of simple catchbasin goss traps for quality control and parking lot surface storage for quantity control, or on larger sites with strict controls, it may involve more complex stormwater management ponds and wetlands. Groundwater recharge is an ever more important aspect of land development and a water balance analysis is required for many sites (i.e., pre-development stormwater infiltration must equal post-development infiltration). This is usually achieved by roof-top runoff infiltration.
